Purpose in Life

Larry's Story

I was raised in a Christian home. I went to church and Sunday School until I was old enough to rebel. During high school I did many things I am not proud of. Even worse, I'm sure my parents were not proud.

One day I met a lady named Barbara but had no clue that the intersection of our lives would be God's way of reaching out to save mine. I started going to church again where rehearing God's message of salvation placed new convictions in my heart. My personal surrender to Christ was made public in March of 1969.

Following our marriage in May of 69, God worked on my heart in a way that has resulted in 40 years of ministry to children through local churches. I started out working with R.A.'s and have been working with children and youth in various church educational and leadership roles since.

Perhaps the stinging memory of my own bad choices during teenage years enhances the joy of seeing kids avoid such mistakes. I do know that God has clearly demonstrated to me in recent decades how His love and grace are capable of keeping and sustaining young people through their most vulnerable years. That's what we want to keep encouraging in the church.

My name is Larry. God allows me to serve Him by working with kids.

Mark 10:13-16

And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, 'Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all.' And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying his hands upon them.
